 The history of French-based company, Max & Moi begins with an inspiring family story.

A seasoned furrier and designer who worked for the largest Parisian design companies, Max Lederer first created the Lederer Company in 1925. The company continually grew and gained recognition as one of France’s best furriers. Since then and for the past four generations, the family business has continued to reinvent itself and evolve with each passing season. Playing with different styles and trends, Lederer still remains the benchmark for Parisian fur.

From early on in the design and manufacturing process, the Lederer label knew it wanted the finest furs and materials available. Since the 1920’s, Lederer furs have come from all over the world: Scandinavia, North America, Russia, and beyond. This ensures that the Lederer labels are using the best of the best in all that they make. Lederer uses the materials from these different countries as an invitation to discover the world of beautiful materials.

After decades of refinement, the fourth generation joined the Lederer company in the 2000s, and in 2008 Elie Lederer created Max & Moi. Avalon Clothing Company first introduced Max & Moi to the Vail Valley over 6 years ago and our clients have continued to love their refined European styles and feminine pieces.

In creating  Max & Moi, the Lederer family had just one wish: to design collections for every moment of women’s lives, all while still using fur, which is the base material of the Lederer fashion house, in combination with other high-quality materials such as silk, cashmere or leather. This vision has evolved into cashmere sweaters with mink trim, wool blend ponchos with fox accents and much, much more.
